KPY’s Representative Council

KPY Cooperative has about 20,000 members. Hence, the decision-making powers are exercised by a Representative Council elected by the members, instead of the general meeting of members.

The Representative Council is KPY’s highest decision-making body through which the cooperative members can exercise oversight and control in the cooperative.

The Representative Council has 30 members. Elections to the Representative Council are held every three years. A total of 15 members are appointed at each election to replace those due to resign.

The duties of the Representative Council include the election of the Chair and Vice Chair of the Council as well as the appointment of the Chair, Vice Chair and members of the Executive Board.

Additionally, the Representative Council makes decisions on matters related to any substantial contraction or expansion of business, or any material changes to the corporate form or structure, as well as on the instructions to be issued to the Executive Board on matters of material importance or wide-ranging implications, and reviews the reports of the Executive Board on business plans and financing prospects.
