SUSTAINABILITY AND CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Sustainability
Our responsibility is rooted in our values and reflected in concrete actions. Guided by our values, we aim to create a positive impact through three core themes of responsibility:
-
A vibrant society
-
A sustainable environment
-
A strong corporate culture and employee experience
As owners, we require that KPY-owned and other portfolio companies comply with the law and regulations as well as an ethical code of conduct. We seek to ensure that the companies follow the principles of corporate social responsibility.
We encourage the companies to give due regard to the environment, social impact and sound corporate governance. In case of observed non-compliance with these principles, we use our best efforts to induce those involved to take corrective action.
The ways of working and activities of KPY’s Representative Council, Executive Board and personnel are based on the existing legislation and regulations, a high standard of corporate ethics as well as the principles of sustainability and social responsibility.
We apply the same policy in our dealings with partners. We act transparently and ethically in respect of stakeholders.

Vibrant society
We accelerate the growth of companies. We strengthen the conditions that enable companies to grow under domestic ownership. We also offer the opportunity to invest in unlisted companies through us.
Sustainable environment
All our portfolio companies are aware of the environmental impacts of their operations. We support them in setting and achieving environmental goals.
Strong corporate culture and employee experience
We systematically develop corporate culture. We aim for a motivated and enthusiastic staff, and we take measures to achieve this both at the company level and collectively. We regularly monitor the development of the employee experience.
Grants as part of KPY’s social responsibility
Each year, KPY provides grants to support non-profit activities that promote wellbeing and inclusion in the North Savo region. Applications are submitted via the application form available on our website at www.kpy.fi/avustukset (in Finnish). The application period typically opens in November, when we also share the annual focus areas.
Grants are available to sports and leisure clubs, associations, educational institutions and other non-profit organisations operating in North Savo. Grants may also be awarded, at KPY’s discretion, to other non-profit purposes. Grants are not awarded to private individuals or companies.
Through these grants, KPY aims to support diverse leisure and hobby opportunities for children and young people, with particular focus on those from low-income backgrounds, living with serious illness, or at risk of social exclusion.

We want to do what is right
Our company strives to maintain a transparent business climate and high business ethics. We value the safety and respect of everyone affected by our business. You have a vital role in our success.
Our Whistleblowing service
Our whistleblowing service is an early warning system to reduce risks. It is an important tool to foster high ethical standards and maintaining customer and public confidence in us.
The whistleblowing service can be used to alert us about serious risks of wrongdoing affecting people, our organisation, society, or the environment. Your report can include information regarding criminal offences, irregularities and violations or other actions in breach of EU or national laws, within a work-related context.
You do not need proof of your suspicions, but all messages must be made in good faith.
The whistleblowing service is provided by an external partner WhistleB, Whistleblowing Centre, to ensure anonymity.
