Voimatel was founded in 2001 to provide telecommunications and electricity network construction services. The founding shareholders were Kuopion Puhelin Oy (KPY) and Savon Voima Oyj. In spring 2014, KPY acquired the remaining 18 per cent of Voimatel’s shares previously owned by Savon Voima.
